Tonight is my second – and last – night here in Abu Dhabi – Yas Island. I never visited this city before and because I had such an amazing time with my family, I decided to write a blog post about it!

Yes, Island Rotana Hotel had a great offer this summer. We booked a room for 2 nights for 2 adults and 2 children (bed and breakfast) for the price of 1400 AED and you get the following for free:

  • Free Yas Beach One Time Tickets
  • Free Water world Tickets
  • Free Ferrari World Tickets

OMG! This is just amazing for families looking for great deals. Can you imagine the price you would’ve paid without this offer for the theme parks? Super savings alert!!!

The first day, we arrived a little late. First, my kids went to the pool in the hotel. It’s very nice, they liked it. Then we went to the beach to watch the sunset with our free entrance tickets to Yas Beach.

After that, we drove to Sheik Zayed Big Mosque and it turned out to be great. We were lucky we made that decision because in the evening you get to see the beautiful lights of the mosque reflecting on its architectural designs. It was a soul-stirring experience. If you don’t know what is special about this mosque, let me give you a hint. The mosque’s initial design hailed from Morocco and its architecture includes references to Mamluk, Ottoman and Fatimid styles. More than 100,000 tons of pure white Greek and Macedonian marble were used in its construction and artisans used glass-work, mosaic tiling, and intricate carvings to spectacular effect on both the interior and exterior. The beauty of the interiors are mind-blowing and the visit is well worth the time.

Important Note: There are no gas stations inside of Yas Island so you’ll probably have to go little deeper inside Abu Dhabi to get your car gas tank full. Also, there are no nearby pharmacies so dear mommies please do bring some medications in case one of your kids get sick.

The first day was pretty cool but not as cool as the second day! After we had our breakfast, kids gone to the pool, we went to Ferrari World using our free tickets.

I need to write a separate blog post about Ferrari world but I enjoyed it so much; it is very fun for both adults and children. Unfortunately, my 3-year-old didn’t have access to many games because of being too short for the games. If your kids are taller than 110 cm then I guess you will have access to many games. Nevertheless, we all had a great time.

I was surprised when I read different reviews about this place. This place was not just about the rides, it’s about the entire Ferrari experience you get. Personally, I enjoyed the showrooms for old Ferrari cars. I and my husband tried the changing tires challenge and it was a laugh! My kids also liked the place and we are not new to theme parks. We spent almost 4 hours inside and those were not enough to try all the rides. I was too afraid to try the roller coaster, but my husband did. Although he came out of it a little dizzy, he still thought of it as an exciting experience.

At the entrance of Ferrari world is an Emirati Cuisine restaurant called Al Fanar. Although I’ve been living in Dubai for 3 years now this is my first time to officially try the Emirati cuisine. Personally, I liked the food which is made of mainly plain white or yellow spicy rice with meat/chicken/shrimps stews. We also enjoyed the soups and the salads … so delicious and definitely worth trying. I tried a meat and vegetable stew with tomato sauce and it was mouth-watering!

Wednesday was our last day. Rotana hotel has this check in/out policy:

  • Check in at 3 PM
  • Check out at 12 PM

But this is negotiable and subject to availability so you can ask for an earlier check-in and a later check-out.

In the last day of our 3 days trip, we went to Yas Island Waterworld. Our family had a great time there. The park has plenty of fun-filled cool water slides! My kids had the time of their life as there are rides for every age. You can rent towels and lockers so that’s one thing less you need to carry around. The only negative thing is that the prices of food and beverages inside the waterpark are high.

Finally, right before we headed home we visited Yas Mall. My daughter always wanted a mermaid tail so we bought her one from the little booths on the second floor. There’s also another nice booth that sells natural products from Yemen. I bought a natural hair oil mix for hair loss.
